A Geographic Tour of Forest Hills
The heart of Forest Hills is the Austin Street shopping district and of course Forest Hills Gardens, but Forest Hills is much greater than simply these two areas. High-density housing, apartments, co-ops and condos are located along and on the north side of Queens Boulevard as well as in large developments, in particular, the two developments of Gerald and Parker Towers.
In the Cord Meyer area of Forest Hills are largely single-family dwellings of detached houses.
Generally speaking, many adjoining neighborhoods often tried to claim the name of Forest Hills, such as areas of Rego Park and Kew Gardens.
Queens Boulevard, Yellowstone Boulevard, 108th Street, and Metropolitan Avenue are the four main thoroughfares through Forest Hills.
The Long Island Expressway, Van Wyck Expressway, Jackie Robinson Parkway, and Grand Central Parkway all border Forest Hills.
Forest Hills is in the center of Queens almost equidistant from both John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports.
The E, F, V, and R subway lines run directly through the neighborhood as does the Long Island rail Road.
With a community so much geographically at the center of all things in Queens, it is small wonder that almost every day the streets are packed with shoppers and visitors not only from all over Queens of literally from all parts of the world.
